How Swerve Strickland Really Feels About Becoming AEW Meme

Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland is more than just one of AEW’s top stars; he’s also a man who became a meme thanks to a unique pose he adopted.

The former AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland, is known for being one of the most vicious men in AEW, but he’s also a laid-back guy outside the ring.

At the AEW All In Texas PPV, Swerve Strickland provided an assist to help his former rival, “Hangman” Adam Page, beat Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Title. After helping Hangman, Swerve folded his arms in the aisle and had a smirk on his face. It quickly became a meme among internet fans.

While talking to Complex Sports in a recent interview, the man who leads fans in “Swerve’s House” chants said he was okay with becoming a meme.

“Whatever gets my face out there more, and if y’all can entertain this, as long as it’s not offensive, I’m cool.”

After being shown the meme, Swerve reacted to it.

“Yeah, the Michael Jackson person here, I’m like, ‘Umm?’ they make it seem like I’m a parody of myself. Like, I’m impersonating myself. The one where where they turn me blue, and they put me out coming out of a lamp. I appreciate all of them. Like I said, as long as it’s fun is not like derogatory, hurting anybody or being offensive, have your fun, have your way with it. It’s the internet. This is what we’re here for. Just don’t hurt nobody’s feelings, especially mine.”

Swerve Strickland Undergoes Knee Surgery

It was announced last week that Swerve Strickland had surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his knee. There’s no timeline for when Swerve will return, but a torn meniscus will likely require at least a few months on the shelf.

In his final match before knee surgery, Swerve Strickland lost in an AEW Unified Title match to the champion Kazuchika Okada. After the match, Okada viciously attacked Swerve’s right knee by using the steel steps and other methods. It was a storyline way to explain the injury.
