How Randy Orton Really Feels About Young NXT Opponent
Randy Orton has high praise for one of NXT’s rising stars.
In the past, Randy Orton has spoken about passing on advice to young stars, but on the October 8th edition of NXT, he took that to a new level by getting in the ring with Je’Von Evans. While Evans gave the match his all, he couldn’t overcome the veteran star, who gave him a learning experience before finishing things with an RKO for a decisive victory.
In a digital exclusive after the show, Orton had some positive words for Evans, who he expects to be around for a long time.
“I got to work with an incredible talent tonight, only 20 years old. You know him, he’s bouncy, Je’Von Evans. Dude, I’m very excited to see where he goes in the future. He’s gonna be around for as long as he wants to be.”
The Viper was also pleased with how humble Evans showed himself to be, as well as the respect he gave him.
“I think that he needs to keep doing what he’s doing. But what I noticed first and foremost after meeting him for the first time today, he’s incredibly humble, he has nothing but respect for the business and the guys like me, the old fuddy-duddies that have been here for over 20 years, and you know what, that means a lot.”
New NXT North American Champion Crowned
NXT in St. Louis saw Oba Femi’s winning streak come to an end along with his North American Title reign. Femi defended the gold against Tony D’Angelo, but just when it looked like he would retain the title, D’Angelo countered a powerbomb attempt into a roll-up for the surprise victory.
