How Much Of AAA Will WWE Really Own?

Triple H WWE

WWE is set to purchase AAA but it seems the sports entertainment giant will stop a long way from owning the promotion outright.

Ahead of WrestleMania 41 night one, WWE announced the acquisition of the famous Mexican Promotion AAA. Michael Cole broke the news during the WrestleMania 41 pre-show, shortly after a new Worlds Collide event involving talent from NXT and AAA was announced.

The deal between the two sides is expected to be officially wrapped up in the third quarter, as speculation continues that AAA could be rebranded NXT Mexico.

Regardless, there’s expected to be significant movement between the two talent rosters, with many Latin WWE stars expected to go to Mexico. In fact, the crossover has already started, as Rey Mysterio appeared on a recent AAA show, sending a message to the promotion while he recovers from his recent injury that kept him out of WrestleMania.

While the deal still has more questions than answers, it now seems one answer has been revealed.

WWE Owning Majority Of AAA

Spanish language publication LexLatin has reported that TKO-owned WWE will own 51% of AAA when the deal is completed later in 2025. Mexican sports and entertainment company Fillip will own the remaining 49%.

The report also noted that the deal had a lot to do with intellectual property, and this may have led to the delay in the deal being completed:

The deal had a strong intellectual property component as the main value of the acquired company (part of the main assets purchased) is its intangible assets (trademarks, copyrights, and exclusive use rights, among others). Because of this, the transaction required an audit of these assets “to verify their specific characteristics, validity, and legal status, as well as a review of the licenses and other contracts entered into regarding them.
