How Involved Is Bryan Danielson In AEW Creative?

Bryan Danielson continues to work for AEW.

One of AEW’s biggest stories in 2024 centred around Bryan Danielson and his impending retirement. As his body began to betray him with alarming regularity, Danielson vowed to end his full-time career when he lost the World Championship.

That emotional end came at WrestleDream when the American Dragon was beaten and broken by Jon Moxley and the Death Riders.

Since then, Danielson has remained out of the spotlight as he recovers from a series of longstanding injuries. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been keeping busy.

Bryan Danielson Has Key Role In AEW

During a new interview with the Way of the Blade podcast, Tony Khan opened up about Danielson’s importance to AEW, even if fans can’t see him on television. Khan revealed that the former World Champion is still a “big part of his office,” adding that the pair speak almost every day.

“I still work with Bryan Danielson. He’s still a big part of my office. He’s not on the show, and he’s been injured and maybe retired for good, but he’s never said he’s done for good, and I hope that there’s some possibility he will be able to return to wrestling from the injuries and the way he left, but he’s still a part of AEW, so I’m still very fortunate to work with Bryan.

I talk to Bryan almost every day. He’s got a great mind for wrestling, and he’s somebody that I’m really pleased and blessed came into AEW and got involved with us. He’s a great person in and out of the ring, and he’s a great leader in AEW.”

During the same interview, Tony Khan described Sting’s retirement as one of the greatest nights of his life. While looking back at the match that headlined Revolution in 2024, Khan heaped praise on Darby Allin and the Young Bucks for making the legend’s goodbye as special as possible.

In an interview conducted in December, Bryan Danielson admitted he’s made peace with never wrestling again. He went on to say that there’s a 50/50 chance he’ll resume his in-ring career, but his priority remains his long-term health.
