How Carlito Broke Protocol With WWE Exit

Carlito

Carlito announced his WWE exit on social media, sending a shock through the WWE Universe.

Fans were made aware of two releases this week, and both of them were actively working on WWE TV. R-Truth and Carlito took to social media to announce that their respective journeys with the wrestling juggernaut had come to an end.

It seems that WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H made the decision to not renew R-Truth and Carlito’s contracts as a part of roster adjustments.

Carlito made the announcement before WWE

The former WWE superstar took to social media to announce that his contract will be over in two weeks and will not be renewed. He joked about the wrestling juggernaut blaming him for “stealing money” given his limited appearances, and finally bid a hearty farewell to the fandom.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the announcement, and revealed that it does not line up with how usually the wrestling juggernaut handles releases. It is important to note that Carlito was in a developing storyline with Raquel Rodriguez, and ideally the creative team would have ended that angle before the company informed the superstar in question about their release.

“Usually when we hear about these guys being gone—and they say it—like, put it this way: if you’re gonna be back, I mean the usual protocol, which is why it’s kind of a surprise to me, especially with Carlito, is that if you’re in this situation, they send you out there, you usually get massacred in some way and they blow you off. And then they’ll tell you, ‘Oh, by the way, you’re not being renewed.’”

The fact that Carlito already knew about his contract not being renewed, and making a social media post about it is definitely against company norms.
