How Becky Lynch Inspired WWE Star’s Comeback

A recently returned WWE Superstar has discussed how Becky Lynch provided the inspiration for them to return to the company and get back in the ring.

Candice LeRae left WWE in May 2022 when her contract expired while she was on maternity leave. She had previously last competed in the ring for the company in July 2021 when she and Indi Hartwell lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.

LeRae gave birth to her and her husband Johnny Gargano’s first child in February 2022 – two months after Gargano opted to leave WWE after his contract expired as well.

But now, with WWE under the management of Triple H, both Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are back in the fold. Speaking on the Ringside podcast, LeRae explained how former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch provided the proof that you can return to wrestling following a pregnancy at the very highest level:

“The women who have done this before me gave me the little bit of courage to comeback. I didn’t know if this was something that was going to be possible. Becky Lynch kind of set a bar really high for us moms coming back because she came back better than ever.”

“Her doing that had me stop and go, ‘Wow, this is really possible. It’s doable and possible. She did it and look at her.’ She came back better than ever. ‘We can do this.’ It’s really awesome. Timing is everything and the timing has been absolutely perfect.”

Becky Lynch gave birth to her and Seth Rollins’ first child in December 2020 and finally returned to action after over a year away at SummerSlam 2021 where she defeated Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in 26 seconds.
