How 1 WWE Star Really Feels About Damian Priest As World Champion

Damian Priest

One of WWE’s top stars has given his appraisal of Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship reign.

Damian Priest captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. Since then, Priest has seen off challenges from Jey Uso and Seth Rollins as well as defeating McIntyre in his home country of Scotland at Clash at the Castle.

At SummerSlam, the star may face his biggest challenge yet when he defends the gold against the 2024 King of the Ring, Gunther. During an appearance on Gorilla Position, the Ring General gave his thoughts on Priest’s title reign so far.

While the star thinks Priest has carried himself well in the face of challenge, he flatly stated that the run wouldn’t last much longer regardless.

“I think he’s done a good job. I feel like, for everybody in that situation, it’s a big challenge. You look at the history of the World Heavyweight Championship so far, it was Seth Rollins, who held it for a very long time. But he was already a very established superstar before becoming World Heavyweight Champion. Drew had it for a few minutes, I don’t really count that now.

“Then Priest had to basically take it over, so I can only assume it was a big challenge for him, but I think he stood up to the challenge and carried himself in a very good way, I think. It’s not gonna last that match longer, to be honest.”

Gunther Addresses Critics Of WWE SummerSlam Bout Against Damian Priest

During the same interview, Gunther took aim at critics of his match against Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam. While some think a bigger name should be involved in the bout, The Ring General turned the criticism around, saying that it’s a testament to the company’s management that two new faces are being put in such a big spot.
