AEW star Paul Wight could be set for a return to the squared circle.

The gigantic 52 year-old star became one of Tony Khan”s most notable acquisitions in February 2021 after parting ways with WWE following a 22-year association with the company.

The veteran star has made just a handful of in-ring appearances for the company to date and has not competed since teaming with Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho to defeat Konosuke Takeshita, Brian Cage, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs in a tag team bout on the 15th November 2023 edition of Dynamite.

A recent trademark filing, however, suggests that a return to the squared circle may be imminent for the former WWE Champion.

Back in 2021, AEW applied for trademarks in relation to ‘Captain Insano’, a character portrayed by White in the Adam Sandler-led 1998 hit film ‘The Water Boy’.

Whilst the 2021 application remains open, a new and more expansive trademark filing was placed with the USPTO by AEW on 24th January, giving fans hope that the popular star may be on his way back to action:

“G & S: Bandanas; Hats; Headwear; Pants; Shirts; Shorts; Socks; Sweatshirts; T-shirts; Undergarments; Clothing jackets; Tank tops; Clothing for wear in wrestling games”, “G & S: Action figures; Toy action figures; Cases for action figures; Play sets for action figures; Toy action figures and accessories therefor; Toy wrestling rings”, as well as “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler.”

AEW Star Lashley Hints At MMA Return

One top AEW star who may soon be taking time away from the company is Bobby Lashley.

Despite capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship with Shelton Benjamin on the 22nd January edition of Dynamite, the 48 year-old star has admitted that he is keen on a return to MMA in the future.

Having debuted with an emphatic victory over Joshua Franklin on 13th December 2007, Lashley has gone on to post a respectable 15-2 record in mixed martial arts.
