Highly-Rated AEW Star Signs “Big Money” Contract

Tony Khan Smiling AEW

An AEW Champion will be staying with the company for several years to come.

After jumping to the singles ranks, when his tag team partner Mark Davis suffered a major injury in late 2023, Kyle Fletcher’s career has gone from strength to strength.

The 26-year-old has reinvented himself as part of the Don Callis Family and recently won the TNT Championship in a brutal war with Dustin Rhodes. In the days after the match, Rhodes confirmed that he’ll now undergo double knee replacement surgery.

Fletcher continued his good form on the August 9 episode of Collision, where he successfully defended the title against Tomohiro Ishii.

Following the show, Fightful Select reported that the Aussie star had signed a new “big money contract,” especially for someone in his age bracket.

Fletcher will find out his opponent for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on the August 13 edition of Dynamite.

AEW Star Set For Extended Absence

While things are undoubtedly looking up for Kyle Fletcher, there’s been some disappointing news on one of the company’s other big names.

During a new interview, Tony Khan confirmed that Jay White will remain out for a “long time.” The star hasn’t wrestled since beating Kevin Knight on the March 29 edition of Collision.

Days later on Dynamite, White announced that he’d suffered a hand injury, but the exact nature of that injury remains unknown. He had been due to face Will Ospreay in the opening round of the Owen Hart Cup, but he was forced to withdraw.

White signed with AEW in April 2023 and went on to win the ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship and AEW World Trios Championship alongside Austin and Colten Gunn.
