Top Heel May Challenge Cody Rhodes For WWE Title After SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes WWE

Cody Rhodes is set to fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

The American Nightmare held the title for nearly a year before losing it to John Cena at WrestleMania 41 last April. After winning the King of the Ring tournament, Rhodes will now get another shot at The Never Seen Seventeen at SummerSlam.

Since winning the title at the Show of Shows, Cena has successfully defended it against Randy Orton and CM Punk. Many fans and experts now expect him to drop the title back to Rhodes.

Speaking on Busted Open, wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer suggested a scenario where Drew McIntyre would challenge The American Nightmare for the Undisputed WWE Championship after the latter potentially dethrones Cena.

I’m the biggest Drew McIntyre fan as well. What I look at is they’re planting seeds. I love when he said with him and Cody, they have a similar path, and if you’re gonna tell me I’m gonna get Cody and Drew for the world title, that is a bigger picture.

When I look at, okay, I have Gunther, I have this returning John Cena, I also have CM Punk. These are all people that have been plugged in the way of Drew McIntyre. [21:19 onwards]

Ex-WWE Writer Thinks Cody Rhodes Won’t Win Title At SummerSlam

On his Wrestling with Freddie, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. discussed the future of John Cena’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign.

The 49-year-old Hollywood star predicted that Cody Rhodes would not dethrone Cena at SummerSlam. Instead, the 40-year-old would beat The Last Real Champion for the title in his final match to save WWE.

He’ll lose that final match and Cody will save the day and save the WWE. I think that’s what they’re gonna do.
