“Heat With The Office?” – John Cena’s WWE Exit Questioned
John Cena’s controversial loss to Gunther remains subject to debate.
Earlier this year, John Cena returned to WWE to have one final full-time run before hanging up his boots. It was announced that he would have his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December.
After winning a tournament held to determine Cena’s final opponent, Gunther squared off with The Never Seen 17. Shockingly, The Ring General forced the 17-time world champion to tap out in his retirement match.
Konnan Wasn’t A Fan Of John Cena’s Final WWE Match
On a recent episode of the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, wrestling veteran Konnan discussed John Cena’s loss to Gunther in his retirement match. He disclosed that he disliked the finish.
The former WCW star claimed the finish suggested Cena might have had heat with the office.
The way they booked him, it’s almost like he had heat with the office. (…) Watching Cena lose match after match undermined the emotional payoff.
Konnan pointed out that although he understood the motivation behind Cena’s losses on his way out, he claimed the execution failed.
I understand the motivation, but the execution was way off [H/T: Ringside News]
