Cody Rhodes had some words of comfort for a WWE rival.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jacob Fatu sent another huge warning to the WWE locker room with the destruction of Braun Strowman. Although he was disqualified from the match, Fatu utterly destroyed his rival leaving him broken and bloody long after the final bell.

Elsewhere, Rhea Ripley retained the Women’s World Title with a win over Nia Jax, and Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker saw off the challenge of Sheamus.

In the main event, Gunther put the World Heavyweight Title on the line against Jey Uso. While it was Gunther who again walked out with the gold, Uso pushed him all the way. Not that the feat was a great deal of comfort to the former tag team star.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Reassures Jey Uso

After the match and the TV feed stopped rolling, Cody Rhodes came to the ring to offer some words of encouragement to Uso. Rhodes reassured the star that his time will come, adding that while he might not hold the World Title, he’s still a champion to fans around the world.

“Michael Cole just said it, you guys all know it, you just watched that match. He said Jey Uso’s time will come. I know it doesn’t feel good Jey, I’ve been there. But you’re a champion to me, you’re a champion to everybody here, let’s hear it for my friend Jey Uso.”

Earlier in the night, Shawn Michaels hit Sweet Chin Music on Kevin Owens during a chaotic contract signing for the Royal Rumble. After Owens and Rhodes signed on the dotted line, KO sucker-punched Rhodes and looked to hit a Package Piledriver on Michaels, who was keeping the peace. However, before he could hit the move, Rhodes stepped in and HBK did the rest.
