Hall Of Famer Predicts WWE’s Next World Heavyweight Champion

Jey Uso CM Punk WWE

A new World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Seth Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam when he cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase on CM Punk to put an end to Punk’s title reign that lasted less than five minutes.

Unfortunately for Rollins, he suffered a shoulder injury at Crown Jewel, and it was so bad that he needed surgery to repair it. Due to the injury, Rollins was forced to give up the World Heavyweight Championship.

With Rollins on the shelf, WWE has to find a new World Heavyweight Champion for the Raw brand. CM Punk earned his shot in the championship match by winning a triple threat match with LA Knight and Jey Uso. As for Jey, he won a high-stakes battle royal on Raw, where he last eliminated his brother Jimmy Uso and Dominik Mysterio to get the win.

What all of that means is that CM Punk and Jey Uso, two men who held the World Title earlier this year, will get a second chance to have it again.

CM Punk Is JBL’s Pick As Next WWE World Champion

At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1st in Salt Lake City, either CM Punk will be a 6-time WWE World Champion or Jey Uso will be a two-time World Champion.

Since everybody is seemingly predicting who should win, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield explained on his Something To Wrestle With podcast that he’s going with Punk.

“With crisis comes ladders. Anytime there’s a crisis, somebody steps in. Voids are always filled. And you have a void here left, a huge void, left by Seth. Somebody’s going to fill that void. And I think Jey or CM Punk can fill that very, very easily. Very, very well, not easily. Nobody can fill a spot of Seth Rollins easily. but then he could fill it very well.”

“I think — you know, I think it’s CM Punk. Don’t know, I like them both. I’ve always been a fan of both of Rikishi’s kids and but I’m a fan of Punk too. I think betting, putting money on it, CM Punk.” (H/T 411Mania)

The Saturday Night’s Main Event match will take place just a few days after CM Punk turned 47 years old on October 26th. An excited Punk stated that 47 is “just a number” and said he would make it the biggest and best year ever.

In addition to the Punk-Uso match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes will defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre, and Tiffany Stratton will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill. There could be another match or two added during the week ahead.
