Hall Of Famer Shares Theory On Andrade’s Surprise WWE Exit
Speculation continues to rumble on about Andrade.
On September 13, it was reported that Andrade had abruptly left WWE after being moved to the alumni section on the company’s website.
Although he hadn’t wrestled since SummerSlam, his departure came out of the blue. There had been no reports of unhappiness behind the scenes, and less than two years earlier, he’d made such an effort to leave AEW to return to the company.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T gave his thoughts on the news after explaining why he was and is such a big fan of the star.
“Andrade got released from WWE… I don’t know what happened, but I know that since Andrade came back, he really hadn’t been used a whole lot. I haven’t really seen Andrade out there doing his thing.
Because dude, hell of a worker. I always thought Andrade was a really, really good worker. I always, always thought Andrade kind of, like, tipped his hand a little bit too early on how good he really was, from a luchador perspective, because he had the American style pretty much down, and then he started flying and throwing stuff. This guy’s really, really good.”
Booker went on to suggest that Andrade’s English language skills may have held him back.
“He could do everything. Not being able to speak English fluently. It really does [hold you back]. That’s why guys like Eddie [Guerrero] went so far in the business. I mean, because he is fluent in Spanish as well as English, so I think that might have held Andrade back just a little bit. I know, I might get a little bit of heat for that, but I think I’m speaking the truth.”
Why Did Andrade Leave WWE?
Given the nature of his exit, speculation was immedaitely running wild about why the former NXT Champion was once again heading out of the company. However, one thread quickly became clear, not everything had been going well behind the scenes.
According to an early report, Andrade’s departure was down to disciplinary issues, and he’d even been sent home, something of a rarity in modern WWE. While this initial report was vague, the details were soon laid bare.
A further report confirmed that Andrade had been removed from a SmackDown taping. Furthermore, he’d previously been suspended without pay for violating the company’s wellness policy.
