Hall Of Famer Wants Penta And Rey Fenix Kept Apart In WWE

WWE star Penta makes his entrance

With Rey Fenix on the verge of his WWE debut, is a Lucha Brothers reunion on the cards?

After months of speculation, it’s been announced that Rey Fenix will make his WWE debut on the April 4 episode of SmackDown.

Fenix has long been linked with a move to the sports entertainment giant but his contractual situation meant he remained tied to AEW long after his brother Penta debuted on Raw. However, Fenix recently became a free agent, and it seems he’s wasting little time in making his next move.

Given that they’ve spent much of their careers operating as a team, many fans are expecting the Lucha Brothers to unite in WWE, but one Hall of Famer thinks the reunion should be held off.

WWE Fans Should Be Made To Wait

Looking ahead to Fenix’s impending arrival on SmackDown on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff suggested he should initially be kept away from this brother. The veteran said that as everyone is waiting for the pair to reunite, fans should have to wait a little longer to build more anticipation.

“Without knowing what their tag team landscape looks like, or the plans for it over the next six months, given that we don’t know that, I would want to keep them apart until I figure it out exactly [what to do with them].

I’m sure WWE was aware, somehow, of the progress and where they were all at. They may already have a plan, or at least an idea or premise for a plan. But if they don’t, keep your options open. There may be the right time to bring ’em together, ’cause that’s what everybody is kind of interested in seeing, I would think, those that are familiar with those two. They all want to see ’em together as a tag team.

Well, don’t give it to ’em right away. If you know that’s what they want to see, make ’em want to see it even more, and that takes a little bit of time, and then you’ve got an option.”

Elsewhere on SmackDown, it’s been announced that Jacob Fatu will meet Braun Strowman in a Last Man Standing Match, while B-Fab will take on Naomi.

With regard to Penta, it’s been reported that he’ll be part of a huge Fatal-Four-Way match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania. He most recently challenged for the gold on the March 24 edition of Raw but the match ended in disqualification.
