Hall Of Famer Heavily Criticises New WWE Show

Triple H at the WWE Raw Netflix press conference

Not everyone is looking forward to WWE: Unreal.

It’s been announced that the new docuseries “WWE: Unreal” will premiere on Netflix on July 29. The first season will consist of five episodes lasting 50 minutes.

The new series was first announced during WrestleMania 41 weekend, with the company promising to take fans backstage like never before. This will include taking cameras into the writing room and showing how TV tapings and Premium Live Events are put together.

On the latest episode of his Snake Pit Podcast, Jake Roberts offered a sarcastic take on WWE’s desire to turn everything around the company into content, quipping, “Oh well, they’ve done everything else, and made money with it. They might as well do that, too.”

Roberts suggested that allowing fans to see so much of the business outside of the ring could hurt the on-screen product.

“I think it’s foolish. I don’t think that product will ever warrant enough money being made for the damage that it’ll do. So that’s just my own thoughts.”

Jake Roberts Isn’t First Legend To Hit Out At WWE: Unreal

During an interview back in May, Steve Austin criticised WWE’s decision to launch the documentary, suggesting that the company had lifted the curtain back too far.

Austin compared pro wrestling to magic and said, as a viewer and a fan, he didn’t want the performers to reveal the show’s secrets and ruin the illusion. However, he did concede that he’s got an “old-school” mentality when it comes to how wrestling is presented.
