Hall Of Famer Confirms WWE Legends Contract
A WWE legend has confirmed their contract status.
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan made his most recent appearance on WWE television back in July as the company paid tribute to the late Hulk Hogan. Prior to that, he was shown in the crown for Saturday Night’s Main Event back in January.
This came after a report that claimed Duggan had now signed a Legends contract with the company, and that report has been proven to be correct.
During a new interview with WrestleTalk’s Connel Rumsey, Duggan confirmed that he signed a WWE Legends contract back in January. It’s the first time that he’s been under such a deal for around 15 years.
“I just recently re-signed with the WWE in January, I hadn’t been on one in probably 15 years, but I finally, because I own my name, a lot of guys don’t own their own name.
Back in the WWF, if Vince McMahon created your name like Big Boss Man, or Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake, you left that territory, you couldn’t use that name, but myself and Macho Man we trademarked our name years ago.”
When asked whether he keeps up to date with modern wrestling, Duggan joked that after spending a career in wrestling, the last thing he wants to do now is watch it.
“Not too much. They had us back for a Saturday Night’s Main Event, and then they brought me in for the 10 beller for Hulkster, but I joke, you know after 40 years the last thing I wanna watch when I’m home is wrestling. That’d be like a cop watching Cops.”
Jim Duggan Starred For WWE And WCW
Jim Duggan began his career back in 1979 and briefly stopped off in the WWF before heading to Mid-South Wrestling and later NJPW. Once back in the United States, Duggan signed with the WWF in 1987 and made history as the winner of the first-ever Royal Rumble match a year later.
In late 1994, Duggan moved on to WCW and stayed with the company until it was purchased by the WWF in 2001. The veteran went on to star in the independent scene while appearing for TNA in 2003. However, Duggan was back in the WWE fold two years later and wrestled several matches before leaving again in 2009.
Jim Duggan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
