Gunther’s WWE WrestleMania Challenger Confirmed

Gunther WWE Intercontinental Champion

Gunther is heading into WrestleMania as the Intercontinental Champion and now he knows which WWE star he’ll be up against in Philadelphia.

Gunther is the record-shattering longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time having swept aside all that have come before him over the last 640+ days.

Now The Ring General is heading into WrestleMania as champion once again and on Raw in Houston, Texas he found out just who he’d be defending that title against.

A huge gauntlet match dominated the show as Shinsuke Nakamura, Bronson Reed, Sami Zayn, Chad Gable, JD McDonagh, and Ricochet did battle for a shot at the title on the grandest stage of them all.

Ricochet saw off JD McDonagh at the start of the bout before the high-flying star was taken out by Reed. Sami Zayn then entered the fray and eliminated Reed, Nakamura, and Gable to pick up the win.

This will be Sami Zayn’s second title match in a row at WrestleMania as he teamed with Kevin Owens to win the WWE Tag Team Championship from The Usos in the main event of night one at WrestleMania 39.

Gunther’s WWE WrestleMania Plans Forced To Change

Gunther’s plans at WrestleMania are believed to have significantly changed in recent months thanks to the bombshell lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon.

Brock Lesnar was not named in the lawsuit but was implicated resulting in WWE pulling Brock Lesnar from all creative plans. Lesnar was widely believed to be Gunther’s planned opponent for WrestleMania 40.
