Gunther’s Next Challenger Emerges On WWE Raw

Gunther World Heavyweight Champion

Gunther escaped Berlin with his World Heavyweight Championship but now a familiar face has come to the front of the line for a crack at the gold on WWE Raw.

At Bash In Berlin, Gunther put Randy Orton to sleep to retain his World Heavyweight Championship as his dominant streak in WWE continued. However, it’s tough at the top and on Raw in Denver, there was no shortage of stars looking for a shot at the title.

Following his own win at Bash In Berlin, CM Punk set his sights on Gunther and the title but it looks like any showdown between those two men will have to wait as Drew McIntyre viciously took out Punk with the feud between them looking set to continue into Bad Blood.

That left the door open for another challenger to emerge and Gunther was soon confronted by someone he knows very well.

Sami Zayn Wants Gunther & The Gold

Sami Zayn came face-to-face with Gunther and noted that many former Intercontinental Champions – including The Ring General – had gone on to become World Heavyweight Champions and now he wanted his shot at the gold. Gunther noted he liked Zayn as he kept getting back up after being knocked down but in the end, he rejected Zayn’s challenge.

As the champion walked away, Sami Zayn reminded him that he was the only man to have beaten Gunther on the main roster and vowed he would be coming after the gold.

Sami Zayn ended the record-setting WWE Intercontinental Championship reign of Gunther at WrestleMania 40, handing the Austrian star his only pinfall defeat on the WWE main roster.
