Gunther Takes Brutal Shot At WWE Legend Goldberg
Gunther retired Goldberg in the latter’s official farewell match earlier this year.
The match took place on July 12, 2025, at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, Goldberg’s hometown, which added extra emotion to the bout.
During a recent interview with ESPN’s First Take, Da Man was brought up in the conversation, and Gunther took a brutal shot at the WWE legend.
He reminded everyone how he beat the WWE legend by choking him out and expressed how much he enjoyed doing that.
Oh, I love choking him out. I tell you this, I enjoyed that.
But he also showed respect to Goldberg and praised him.
But um yeah, I wouldn’t agree. I think, yeah, Goldberg is definitely yeah, legend and absolute special uh wrestler. (From 3:55)
Gunther Promises To Retire John Cena In The Coldest Way Possible
Gunther’s next target is John Cena, whom he’ll face at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
The Ring General has been very clear that he doesn’t just want to retire John Cena. He wants to break him in the most humiliating way possible.
He has vowed to make Cena submit in his retirement match, not just beat him by pinfall.
On The Rich Eisen Show, Gunther compared Cena’s career to a book and said the final chapter gets written at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
He made it clear he wants that last chapter to end in heartbreak, not a happy, storybook goodbye, and said he’ll do everything in his power to make that happen.
He is ready to take all the heat from fans for doing it.
