Gunther Breaks Silence On Being Escorted By Security After Retiring John Cena

Gunther retired John Cena at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

The Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., saw The Ring General force Cena to submit and tap out in his very last match in WWE.

The WWE Universe was unhappy with the match finish, and fans heavily booed Gunther and WWE CCO Triple H following the match.

Some angry fans were waiting outside the building to greet Gunther with boos and “FU” chants after the show ended.

Gunther even had to keep security backup to prevent any mishaps.

Gunther Could Feel The Tension In The Air After He Defeated John Cena

In a new interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Gunther described his experience leaving the arena after beating John Cena.

He revealed that he is accustomed to the usual boos from fans after he leaves WWE shows.

But the heat he garnered at SNME was far more intense than he usually gets.

Gunther said:

It felt really good. It’s like I could tell the whole day already.

It’s different because my bus like my tour bus was parked outside the venue and I always kind of like had to be escorted through a bunch of people, a bunch of fans to get to the building.

And usually when I leave the building and there’s people, you get like a little ahh, Gunther, boo, haha.

But it felt tense from the like early in the day already, I could feel it felt tense.

So the the people really wanted to see John win and really wanted to have that good feel moment with him at the end of it, but it didn’t happen.

You don’t always get what you want. (From 1:08)
