Gunther Reveals Major Reason Behind John Cena WWE Clash

Gunther will face John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This will be the final time The Champ will be in the ring.

The Ring General defeated LA Knight in the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.

Despite becoming the chosen one, it had been reported that some big names in WWE aren’t happy with Gunther being The Champ’s final match.

Gunther reveals the reason behind John Cena clash

The Ring General spoke with ESPN, where he was asked if the match was a passing of the torch. To this, he revealed that while final matches are passing of the torch. While it’s different given the representation of the roster, it resembles passing of the torch.

Um, yeah, quite traditionally is always a passing of the torch when somebody really established retires and gets in a ring with somebody from a different generation. Um, definitely isn’t that case too. I think uh John Cena yeah represents a certain generation of WWE superstars and I represent the newer generation. I think a lot of lot has changed in WWE.

It’s a very international roster now. Very diverse and I think I represent that very well. So in that sense it definitely is a passing of the torch for the future.
