Gunther May Retire Two More WWE Legends After Goldberg & John Cena

Gunther WWE

Gunther retired two WWE legends in 2025.

He retired Goldberg in Goldberg’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, 2025, held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

He also ended John Cena’s career by defeating him via submission in Cena’s official retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C

Now, ex-WWE star Stevie Richards believes that The Ring General will retire two more legends next year.

“Gunther Is Going To Be The Next Legend Killer,” says Stevie Richards

Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, Richards stated he thinks Gunther will be the one to retire Randy Orton and AJ Styles from WWE and become the next Legend Killer in WWE.

Here’s a thought that I just had. By the way, do you think Gunther is going to be the new legend killer? He retired Goldberg. He retired Cena.

What if Orton’s next? What if Orton’s [retiring] in the next year to 18 months? What if he retires AJ Styles? They could because how many times did Orton like destroy Legends? (From 4:03)

Bully Ray said the same thing about the former World Heavyweight Champion last week on his Busted Open podcast. Ray believes AJ Styles and Chris Jericho will be the next legends on the 38-year-old star’s hit list.

So Gunther retires AJ Styles, Gunther retires Jericho, Gunther retires John Cena, Gunther retired Goldberg.

He turns into the modern-day legend killer. And oh, by the way, that worked for one other guy also. [H/T Wrestling Inc]

There was also a recent report claiming that WWE is planning to book The Ring General to retire Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam next year, which will take place in The Beast’s home state of Minnesota.
