Gunther To Retire Another WWE Legend After Goldberg & John Cena?

Gunther WWE

Gunther has retired two WWE legends now.

Back in July 2025, the 38-year-old Australian pro wrestler retired Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Da Man’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. He retired John Cena from in-ring competition this Saturday, on December 13.

Now, according to a new report, The Ring General’s next target is supposed to be Brock Lesnar. WRKD Wrestling recently claimed that Gunther is expected to be The Beast Incarnate’s opponent in his retirement match.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cena may have accidentally revealed that WWE is to hold Lesnar’s retirement match at SummerSlam, which will take place in his home state of Minnesota.

“He’s a beast. It’s his first time back. I’ve been in this seat before. It’s like I’m always in the seat when Brock comes back, Rock after Miami, who’s the next guy? SummerSlam with Roman, here he comes again.

After he beats Taker for the streak, I’ve sat in this seat before. You have to figure out who gets the shine that night and if, in his return again, only my perspective. This attraction, where we are going to build until he goes into the sunset, which is, I think, in Minnesota? Creatively, it’s very soon. To create a mountain to climb for someone, you have to build the mountain.”

Bully Ray Sees Gunther Retiring AJ Styles And Chris Jericho

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, WWE veteran Bully Ray predicted that the WWE Universe might see Gunther become a modern-day Legend Killer and retire AJ Styles and Chris Jericho next.

Ray said:

So Gunther retires AJ Styles, Gunther retires Jericho, Gunther retires John Cena, Gunther retired Goldberg.

He turns into the modern-day legend killer. And oh, by the way, that worked for one other guy also.

Styles will hang up his wrestling boots in 2026, and Jericho, who is rumored to return to WWE in 2026, is in the latter years of his wrestling career.
