Gunther And Damian Priest Could Make WWE History
Gunther and Damian Priest could be about to make WWE history when they clash again for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The impressive duo squared off at SummerSlam on 3rd August at Cleveland Browns Stadium, with the Austrian Superstar ultimately coming out on top after a hard hitting encounter. Gunther dethroned Priest to win his first World Heavyweight Championship following interference from Finn Balor.
It was a contest that met with critical acclaim and the pair are set to lock horns for the gold again after Damian Priest was named number one contender for the title. The former Judgment Day star earned his shot at redemption after defeating Seth Rollins, Sheamus and Dominik Mysterio in a fatal four way match on the 4th November edition of Raw.
A match of it’s magnitude is destined to take place on a grand stage, with speculation currently suggesting that the battle will occur at Survivor Series in Vancouver, BC on 30th November or at the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event on 14th December.
Speaking during a recent edition of WrestleVotes Radio, Joey Votes highlighted the historical significance of the bout should it take place at Survivor Series.
“If this match does take place at the Survivor Series, Gunther vs. Damian Priest, it will be the first time in history the same world title match happens at both SummerSlam and the Survivor Series in the same year. So again, not announced yet where this Gunther vs. Damian Priest match is happening, but if it does, it will make some history.”
Gunther Issues Warning To Goldberg
Despite facing a difficult rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest, Gunther also has one eye on WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg.
The former WCW Champion had been enjoying WWE Bad Blood from ringside but had to be restrained by security after some choice words on the microphone from the cocky Austrian.
Goldberg recently declared that he will have one final WWE bout in the coming months, with Gunther insisting he would be happy to teach the returning veteran a lesson.
