GUNTHER Believes Facing Cody Rhodes Is “A Perfect Match For Me”
The WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has labeled Cody Rhodes as an opponent that would be a perfect match for him.
At the WWE Royal Rumble three weeks ago, Gunther entered the match from the number one spot and lasted all the way to the end while spending 1:11:40 in the match. That length of time is a record for a 30-man Royal Rumble match.
Cody Rhodes was the 30th entrant in the Rumble match. As the final two, the Imperium leader and Cody had a longer exchange than what we normally see in a Royal Rumble match. It was captivating, exciting and ended on a happy note with Cody eliminating Gunther to win the match.
While talking about Gunther in the past, Cody Rhodes mentioned he would love to face the current Intercontinental Champion in a match, especially in Europe.
On the After The Bell podcast, Gunther spoke about how he thinks Cody is a perfect match for him.
“Obviously, it does. When I knew that scenario would go down with me and Cody at the end, I knew he was out for a little bit, and since then I was able to work my way up and I had to introduce him to the new reality. That was my attitude going into it. Obviously, that was just a taste for everybody.”
“Cody is one of those guys where, that’s a perfect match for me. Perfect opposites, if that makes sense. The match is right there whenever it needs to happen. If it happens in Europe, that would be fantastic.”
Tonight on the February 17th edition of WWE Smackdown, Gunther will put the Intercontinental Title on the line against Madcap Moss.
