GUNTHER Has Unique Choice For His Favourite Match
GUNTHER has named a 2005 bout between Masato Tanaka and Mike Awesome as his favourite WWE contest of all time.
‘The Ring General’ is no stranger to participating in highly rated outings in a WWE ring, with matches against the likes of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Ilja Dragunov all meeting with universal acclaim.
During a recent interview with Gorilla Position, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion was asked to name his favourite WWE bout and revealed that the match up between Tanaka and Awesome from the critically acclaimed ECW One Night Stand pay per view in June 2005 was his choice:
“There’s one match I watched over and over, and it’s not my style, but it entertained the hell out of me.
It’s Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome from the first ECW One Night Stand. What a car crash of a Match.
I think it’s a little bit of a hidden gem, but that entertains the hell out of me even though that’s nothing I would, you know, ever aspire to do myself. Just for me personally, for my entertainment, let’s pick that one.”
GUNTHER Responds To Critics Of Upcoming SummerSlam Bout
Victory over Randy Orton in the tournament final at WWE King And Queen Of The Ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 25th May saw GUNTHER earn himself an opportunity to prise the World Heavyweight Championship away from Damian Priest at SummerSlam on 3rd August.
With many suggesting that Seth Rollins should be added to the bout at Cleveland Browns Stadium, GUNTHER recently offered his perspective on the booking of the match, insisting it was important that the company continued to build new stars.
