Gunther May Undergo Massive Character Shift After Fighting Goldberg

Gunther WWE

Gunther’s WWE future may be headed for a massive twist.

The Ring General has been a heel since his arrival on the main roster nearly three years ago. He recently dethroned Jey Uso, one of WWE’s top babyfaces.

The current World Heavyweight Champion would now defend the title against Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event in the latter’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

While addressing the upcoming clash on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, wrestling veteran Disco Inferno claimed the 37-year-old RAW star could undergo a character change after fighting Goldberg, turning from heel to babyface, heading into a storyline with Seth Rollins and his faction.

Maybe they’re gonna get by with Gunther being a heel in this against Goldberg for his last match, and then he might tease babyface a little bit with Seth. [1:57 onwards]

Why Gunther Shouldn’t Lose To Goldberg at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?

Goldberg has not competed since 2022, when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Gunther has been rising in the ranks of the Stamford-based company over the past three years.

While discussing the highly-anticipated clash between the two superstars on The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo warned the company against booking The Ring General to lose to the 58-year-old legend.

The wrestling veteran claimed another loss for the Austrian star after his defeat against Sami Zayn and Jey Uso would hurt his character.

Gunther should have never lost to Sami Zayn. Gunther should have never lost to Jey Uso. So now Gunther’s going into this match with all this baggage. And if you misbook him again, the dude’s gonna be dead in the water.
