Returning WWE Star Proud Of Gunther’s Career Success

Gunther

A fellow European wrestler is thrilled to see the “sweetheart” Gunther doing so well in WWE.

During the build to his WrestleMania 41 World Title match against Jey Uso, Gunther mentioned in some of his promos that he was a champion during 80% of his time as a WWE superstar.

Even though Gunther lost to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41, the powerful Austrian should be proud of his 666-day record-long reign as the Intercontinental Champion and his eight-month run as the World Heavyweight Champion.

One man who is very proud of what Gunther has done in WWE is Aleister Black. They have had similar career paths, as both are Europeans (Black is from the Netherlands) and were experienced wrestlers by the time WWE signed them.

In an interview with Wrestling the Rap Game, Black talked about Gunther’s ability in the ring and how the big man never seems to have a bad match.

“Once he started working in wXw more and he got the opportunity to go to Japan, that’s where you saw such a change in him. It just clicked. His Big Japan matches, do yourself a favor, watch his matches in Big Japan, they are phenomenal. Him against Daisuke Sekimoto or Okabayashi, oh man, unreal. So good.

He quickly became one of my absolute favorite wrestlers. He still is, to this day. I think he’s so special. He’s so unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him have a bad match. That’s one of those dudes that I’m so proud of. He deserves the world and more. Also, very friendly. Just a sweetheart.”

Black returned to WWE on SmackDown after several weeks of building his return to the company.

Gunther Suspended Indefinitely By WWE

On the Raw after WrestleMania, Gunther showed up at ringside to berate the announcers Michael Cole & Pat McAfee. He got physical with Cole, which led to McAfee punching the big man to free up his friend Cole.

The punch from McAfee angered the former World Champion, so Gunther put McAfee in a sleeper and held onto it for nearly two minutes before help arrived for McAfee.

Due to his unprofessional actions beating up the announcers, Gunther has been suspended indefinitely by WWE. It has also been reported that the former World Champion has requested time off, as he has been traveling extensively on the road over the last few years. The suspension storyline will allow him to spend some time at home with his wife and young son.

There’s no word on when Gunther will return to WWE television.
