GUNTHER has a prediction for WrestleMania 40 as far as where he wants to be on the card in one year’s time.

Since last June, Gunther has been the dominant WWE Intercontinental Champion on the Smackdown brand. That dominance has led the talented Austrian to head into WrestleMania 39 on Night 2 this Sunday in a triple threat match against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.

The rivalry between the former Walter and Sheamus goes back to last September when they had one of the best WWE matches of 2022 at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales. Going into the match, Sheamus was motivated to win the Intercontinental Title for the first time. However, he wasn’t able to get it done and the champion found a way to retain his title.

On the road to WrestleMania 39, Drew McIntyre made it clear that he wanted the Intercontinental Title that he won nearly 15 years ago when he was in his early 20s and looked a lot different than he currently does. Sheamus didn’t like that, so the two best friends have been at odds. They have had multiple matches to earn this shot, which has led to the triple threat match.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Gunther was asked for a WrestleMania 40 prediction for next year’s WM in Philadelphia. The Intercontinental Champion made it clear he wanted to be in the main event and said that was his prediction.

As he continued, Helwani asked if it was for the WWE Heavyweight Title.

Gunther: “That’s something we shall see. I don’t plan on losing this one and I want to make it the most important thing.”

When Helwani pressed who the opponent should be, Gunther didn’t single out anybody and he said he’ll be ready for whoever the challenge is.
