Gunther Breaks Character To Praise WWE Star

Gunther celebrates with the Intercontinental Title

Gunther believes one rival is destined for the WWE Hall of Fame.

At Survivor Series, Gunther made the most recent defence of his Intercontinental Championship seeing off The Miz. Had Miz won, he would have tied the record for most Intercontinental Title wins with Chris Jericho.

As it turned out, Gunther continued his run as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in history.

Ahead of his match with The Miz, the dominant champion openly dismissed his rival, commenting that he didn’t even belong in pro wrestling. Speaking at the post-Survivor Series press conference, the star stepped back a little from those comments, tipping Miz to land in the Hall of Fame when his career is all said and done.

“I mean, everything aside, I can be very satisfied with today. I’ve been in the ring with a two-time Grand Slam Champion somebody that is around forever here.

I think he’s a guaranteed Hall of Famer down the line. It was a challenge for me because, I mentioned it before, I’m not the typical superstar that is made out of the classic WWE mold.

So wanted to have that challenge. I told him last week that I don’t think he belongs in the ring and in this sport. He proved today that he does, just not with me. That’s what I think.”

Gunther Has Sights Set On WWE’s Final Boss

Heading into Survivor Series, Gunther looked beyond his current title reign, and to the bigger challenges ahead. Gunther reiterated that he’d love to face Brock Lesnar, describing him as his “end boss.”

While the pair are yet to compete in one-on-one action, they did memorably come face to face in the 2023 Royal Rumble match.
