WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther could be on the verge of a historic year.

The Ring General recently retired WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg after beating him in a World Heavyweight Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Last Monday on RAW, CM Punk won a Gauntlet match to earn a shot at the 37-year-old’s title at SummerSlam.

Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts expressed his desire to see The Second City Saint fail to capture the title at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

The WWE Analyst Suggested A Wild Scenario For Gunther

The 41-year-old analyst proposed a scenario for The Ring General in which he would end this year with three victories over three massive WWE legends.

Roberts addressed reports that the Austrian star might be John Cena’s final opponent. He claimed the World Heavyweight Champion could go on a winning streak after beating Punk at SummerSlam, while The Franchise Player turns babyface.

The two could then clash with fans hoping Cena would get one final victory. However, he suffers a shocking defeat at the hands of The Ring General.

There were rumors that Gunther may be John Cena’s last opponent. If Gunther is gonna be John Cena’s last opponent, you have Gunther beat CM Punk. You have Gunther beat people for the rest of the year. You have John Cena turn babyface again, and you make people wanna see John Cena get that one more victory, and then he loses. [29:06 onwards]
