Gunther Admits Recent Weight Gain, Gives Surprising Reaction

Gunther admits to having gained weight, but he is not dejected about it.

It could be a part of his training process, something that he might have aimed to achieve during his brief time away from WWE.

After losing the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, The Ring General underwent nose surgery due to a pre-existing issue.

He made his full-time return on November 17 as a participant in the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.

En route to winning the tournament, he defeated four other participants from different brands, who challenged his strength and agility like never before.

As for his in-ring skills, there hardly appeared any sort of ring rust; in fact, he looked fresher and as dominant as ever, which should be ringing warning bells for all future opponents.

Since then, Gunther has been vocal about his approach going into Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13 to face John Cena.

Reportedly, it will be the opening match in Washington, DC, followed by other high-profile bouts of the night.

Gunther Finds His Sweet Spot With Weight Gain

Anyone who has watched Gunther fight knows that he is an old-school heavyweight wrestler who will keep the majority of the action on the mat.

In the process, he uses all his weight to wear down the opponent before going for the ultimate kill.

The 38-year-old Austrian has been on several media tours of late, promoting his upcoming match against the 17-time world champion.

During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, he admitted to having gained a little weight but also feeling great about it.

I always felt like…I’m a heavyweight wrestler…I never minded my look. I was always, athletically, always felt good. I always had good stamina and stuff like that. But at some point before I came to the main roster, I was like, “Okay, it’s time to adapt a little bit.” Bring the best version of myself to national television, and yeah, I gained a little bit again since then, and I found my sweet spot now.
