Grayson Waller Explains Influence Of WWE Legend
Grayson Waller has revealed that he draws inspiration from the late WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper.
The Australian Superstar debuted his controversial talk show ‘The Grayson Waller Effect’ on NXT 2.0 in August 2022 when interviewing Apollo Crews.
The segment hit its heights, however, after Waller was drafted to SmackDown in May 2023. Waller has since welcomed some of WWE’s biggest-name Superstars onto his show, including the likes of AJ Styles, Logan Paul, and former WWE Champion Edge.
Speaking recently on ‘The Collection with Brad Gilmore‘, Waller revealed that he studied the work of legendary WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper in his preparation for the show. Piper famously hosted his own talk show segment ‘Piper’s Pit’ during the 1980’s:
“I was always a fan of the talk shows when it came to WWE. Before I started mine, I watched a lot of Piper’s Pit and things like that to get the vibe. It’s such an important part of what WWE does, those types of segments.”
Grayson Waller Reveals Joy At Hosting Talk Show Segment
Waller, who also had a memorable interaction with John Cena at WWE Money In The Bank at London’s o2 Arena in July 2023, revealed that he was originally daunted by the prospect of being involved with some of WWE’s top names, but now revels in his role:
“Having it as how I debuted on the main roster was a little daunting in a way because you’re not debuting in a match, you’re not debuting with these hype packages. The first thing people see of me is me hosting and causing chaos with their favourite superstars.
I know a lot of people, to start off with, didn’t even know I could wrestle. That was fun while I was healing. It was daunting at first. Now, it’s a lot of fun. I’m in there with guys like Logan Paul, John Cena, Cody Rhodes. The biggest names. Getting to interact with them is a lot of fun.”
