Grand Slam Australia One Of AEW’s Biggest Gates Ever
AEW Grand Slam is shaping up to be a huge financial success.
The road to AEW Grand Slam Australia hasn’t been an easy one, but the special has finally arrived.
The show was originally slated to be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, before being moved to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. It was noted at the time that the switch was due to low ticket sales. There has also been controversy over whether or not the show was briefly advertised as a pay-per-view before being changed to a TV special.
Grand Slam is AEW’s first venture into Australia, and fans will get to cheer on some of the biggest names in the company, including “Timeless” Toni Storm, Mercedes Mone, Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, and more.
Tony Khan Ready To Make AEW History
During a new interview with Deej of DownUnderTheRing, Tony Khan looked ahead to the event, claiming it will be the biggest international gate of all time aside from All In at Wembley.
“This is one of our biggest international events ever. It’s one of our biggest gates in the history of AEW. We’re really excited for that. Outside of Wembley Stadium in London, this is going to be, I believe, our biggest international live gate of all time. It’s a very exciting event for AEW,”
In his own interview ahead of the event, Dustin Rhodes revealed he’ll be producing Mercedes Mone vs. Harley Cameron for the TBS Championship.
