Goldberg Allegedly Won’t Lose Clean To Gunther For Personal Reason

Goldberg will face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th, 2025.

The match was teased during Bad Blood 2025 when Da Man and The Ring General had a squabble. However, nothing much was done with it until now.

This will be Goldberg’s retirement match, and it’s likely he won’t win the championship.

Goldberg can lose the match but it should not hurt his credibility

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has previously revealed that the WWE Hall of Famer is difficult to work with and often lets his ego get the best of him.

During a conversation about Goldberg’s upcoming match, both Jonathan Coachman and Tommy Carlucci claimed that Da Man’s ego will not let him lose clean.

“I don’t know if his ego will allow him to go in and lose clean, even to an in-his-prime Gunther.”, said Coachman.

“Nope, not on his last leg Coach. His ego is so large, and this is his retirement match.”, added Tommy Carlucci.

Seth Rollins has teased cashing-in the Money in the Bank contract for the World Heavyweight Championship. WWE can use that angle to have Da Man win the match against The Ring General but immediately lose it to The Visionary.

This would ensure that Goldberg doesn’t lose his retirement match, but also does not retire as the World Heavyweight Champion.
