Goldberg wrestled in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Over the weeks, he built a rivalry with Gunther, the seeds for which were planted at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE.

During the October event, Gunther appeared in an in-ring segment wherein he questioned the WWE Hall of Famer’s parenting skills while he was sitting in the audience.

It prompted him to confront the Austrian by jumping the barricade, as he named him his “next” target.

The match itself was one of the longest ones in the 58-year-old’s career, lasting 14 minutes and 23 seconds, which ended with him getting choked out by the World Heavyweight Champion.

Goldberg Sustained An Injury Against Gunther

Even before wrestling his final match, the former world champion was transparent about an injured shoulder and an injured leg that were preventing him from performing at his fullest potential.

Goldberg recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show to speak about his final match.

During the session, he expressed frustration over certain elements surrounding the match, saying he wasn’t too happy with the match taking place at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

He discussed his retirement speech getting cut off prematurely. However, WWE released a full video of the segment on social media.

Goldberg also admitted to getting injured, saying he’d hurt his hand. He was then asked if his hand was broken.

Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know what happened… maybe when I went through the barrier or something. Who knows? One of those injuries I’m going to tape an aspirin on it, and it’ll feel better.

During the post-SNME show, Triple H congratulated him on an incredible career.
