Why Goldberg Squashing Gunther Would Help The Ring General

Goldberg is all set to wrestle for the first time in over three years.

His last in-ring competition was against Roman Reigns at the 2022 Elimination Chamber.

The former WWE Champion had also attended the 2024 Bad Blood PLE in October, which is where his feud against Gunther picked up.

In November that year, he claimed that WWE had offered him a retirement match, which he had gladly accepted.

As time passed, details about his match were revealed, with Gunther announced as the opponent and Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 as the destination.

Gunther has been on a journey of his own, losing the title to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41 and reclaiming it on the June 9 RAW episode.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently discussed Gunther vs. Goldberg at SNME on his podcast Kliq This.

However, his take was that the latter squashing Gunther would only benefit the Ring General.

To beat Gunther in f**king three minutes and then f**king leave, stand over him, and f**king drop the belt on him and leave? Why can’t you [do that to Gunther]?

What a great f**king – what a great, like, every f**king babyface now could cut promos on him, he’s got heat by saying that he’s the f**king man, like, you just got -you’re not [the man]! [H/T: Wrestling Inc]

Goldberg Might Not Retire After SNME

The World Heavyweight Championship match is being advertised as Goldberg’s final match, but what would happen if he claimed the title?

The former champion’s son, Gage, believes that fans might not see him for the last time at SNME.

I couldn’t even tell you because he has, I wish I had his confidence, 100%. Because he has like, anything can happen to him, and it would just go right over his head. He is still confident as ever, and win or lose, he is gonna get the itch again that he wants to stay in the ring, Gage said.

If he manages to beat Gunther, Goldberg will officially become the oldest WWE world champion.
