Goldberg Remorseful For Ending WWE Legend’s Career
Goldberg was a force to be reckoned with during his early wrestling days.
His chiseled physique and intimidating aura earned him a reputation as one of the most explosive wrestlers.
During his WCW run, he held a 173-match win streak, making him a larger-than-life figure in the business.
A devastating charging tackle (or spear) and the Jackhammer finisher were common themes in his matches.
He began adding more moves to his repertoire as he gained in-ring experience. One such move was the standing side kick.
As cool as it looked to watch a man of his stature perform that move, it would prove fatal for a former WWE legend.
During his match against Bret Hart at Starrcade 1999, the kick led to the Hitman suffering a concussion, ultimately ending his career.
Hart has allegedly never forgiven Goldberg for it, calling him an unsafe worker on multiple occasions.
Goldberg Remorseful Of Ending Bret Hart’s Career
Despite Bret Hart’s accusations, Goldberg has always maintained that his kick was accidental.
In a recent chat with Dan Sileo of JAKIB Sports, he recalled the incident again and expressed remorse.
I kicked Bret Hart in the head on accident a hundred years ago and I’ve been remorseful ever since. And I’ve said I was sorry. I was young in the business, no question, and people make mistakes.
People have to understand that I was extremely lucky to break into the business when I did…There were guys that were unbelievable sources of information, the coaches, and the people who took the time to help me out. I never would take advantage of anybody. Do you think I’m gonna cheapshot people? [19:00 onwards]
Goldberg, however, prides himself on his wrestling style, which involves hard hits and quick finishes.
He will face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.
