Goldberg Set To Break Historic WWE Record If He Dethrones Gunther
Goldberg could be on the verge of some impressive WWE history when he faces Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
2025 has seen at least one major WWE record fall as John Cena won a world championship for the 17th time in his career when he defeated Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
But now, Goldberg could be coming for a major record of his own.
The WWE Hall of Famer returned to confront Gunther on Raw, leading to a match being made for Saturday Night’s Main Event for the World Heavyweight Championship. Goldberg has teased a retirement match for quite some time, so this could be the last time fans get to see him lace up his boots.
Goldberg To Make WWE History?
However, if he wins the World Heavyweight Championship once again, then he’ll claim his own slice of history. WrestlingNews noted on social media that Goldberg would become the oldest world champion in WWE history if he beats Gunther in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 58.
Goldberg is already the oldest man to win the WWE Universal Championship at the age of 53. Still, Vince McMahon remains the oldest world champion in company history after he won the WWE Title at the age of 54.
At 58 years old, Goldberg could become the oldest WWE World Champion ever.
