Gail Kim Reveals Truth About AEW Contact As Social Media Row Erupts
It’s been quite a week for ex-WWE and TNA star Gail Kim, who has gone to war with AEW supporters on social media.
What started as a critique of deathmatch wrestling has descended into Gail Kim going to war with AEW fans as she waded into the criticism surrounding Riho.
Riho left social media years ago due to the abuse she received, with some blaming the likes of Jim Cornette for leading a campaign against her by referring to her as a Japanese schoolgirl. With Gail Kim agreeing with Cornette on their take on death match wrestling, fans asked what she thought of his criticism of Riho and then were upset when she seemed to agree with him on much of that as well.
That led to Kenny Omega making a veiled dig about people “doing the splits for a TKO gift basket”, indicating he thought the comments were more to do with a continued attack on AEW by certain members of the wrestling community.
Others suggested that Kim’s comments had more to do with the fact that she wasn’t offered a job by AEW after she was fired by TNA earlier in 2025. BJ Bethel noted on social media that Kim had contacted some in AEW about working there:
In the least breaking news, Gail Kim contacted several people about an opportunity at AEW at some point, longer than a couple weeks ago. No one reached out to her.
Gail Kim Denies AEW Rumours
Kim has now taken to social media to share her view on that, claiming she only had one conversation with AEW but rejected their advances as the company wanted her to get back in the ring:
The real news about what happened with AEW since people will lie etc. I was saving it for interviews but oh well it’s now.I got one text from AEW when I was terminated from TNA. It was from Sonjay and inquiring more about whether I wanted to wrestle. I’m retired. End of story.
