Gable Steveson Fails In NFL Bid

Gable Steveson WWE stare

Gable Steveson’s bid to land a spot in the NFL for the upcoming season has taken a hit.

Back in May, it was reported that Gable Steveson had joined the Buffalo Bills NFL franchise. The move came after WWE released Steveson after failing to turn his glittering amateur wrestling background into a lengthy career with the sports entertainment giant.

However, Steveson’s attempts to launch a football career have now also taken a blow. The Bills are waiving Steveson, meaning he won’t be part of the active roster for the comping season. The star is free to sign with another franchise or continue with the Bills practice squad.

The NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo noted that despite the setback, Steveson has options to continue in the sport whether with The Bills or elsewhere.

The #Bills are waiving DL Gable Steveson, source says. Former wrestler is a developmental prospect so this won’t be the end of the line for him, whether in Buffalo as a member of the practice squad or elsewhere.

Gable Steveson Failed To Justify WWE Contract

Following the end of his pro wrestling career, it was reported that Gable Steveson wasn’t doing enough to justify his big-money WWE contract, so the company decided to cut its losses. His exit was said to have more to do with his lack of progress in the ring than his previous legal issues.

Steveson was arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual misconduct in 2019 but didn’t face criminal charges due to a lack of adequate evidence.
