The tag team known as FTR are set to make their first IWGP Tag Team Title defense and they will do so in the United Kingdom.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) won New Japan’s IWGP Tag Team Titles at the AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door event on June 26th. They won the titles in a triple threat match also involving Roppongi Vice – Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero – and the United Empire duo of Great O-Khan & Jeff Cobb. It was FTR’s first time winning the IWGP Tag Team Titles.

In addition to the IWGP Tag Team Titles, FTR also currently holds the Ring of Honor Tag Team Titles and the AAA Tag Team Titles from the esteemed promotion in Mexico.

Dax & Cash made their NJPW debut on July 30 at the Music City Mayhem event in Nashville. They teamed up with Alex Zayn and lost a match to the United Empire’s Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) along with TJP. After that match, Aussie Open challenged FTR to a match for the IWGP Tag Team Title.

It was announced via a video response from FTR that they will defend the IWGP Tag Team Titles against Aussie Open at Royal Quest II in London, England on October 1st.

In addition to the three current sets of Tag Team Titles that FTR holds, they are also former AEW Tag Team Champions as well. During their WWE run as The Revival, the duo also held the Raw, Smackdown and NXT Tag Team Titles.

Aussie Open recently participated in the tournament to crown the first AEW Trios Tag Team Champions as they teamed with United Empire leader Will Ospreay. That trio lost to The Elite’s Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks in the semifinals of that tournament.

As for AEW careers, FTR remain the number one ranked tag teams in AEW’s ranking system and they have been ranked that high for nearly six months, yet they have not received a title match.
