Frustration Within WWE At Title Match

Some within WWE are scratching their heads at a recent booking decision.

The March 5th episode of NXT was the brand’s latest Roadblock special with the show having huge implications for WrestleMania season. On the show, Tony D’Angelo booked himself a shot at NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov, and Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin retained their tag team titles.

Meanwhile, Asuka and Kairi Sane also made their return to the brand to defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley. However, just 24 hours before the match on Raw, it was announced that Asuka and Sane would be defending the gold on the March 11th edition of Raw — seemingly spoiling the result of the match at Roadblock.

According to a report from Corey Brennan for Fightful Select, this caused some frustration backstage.

The same report noted there was “a lot of praise backstage” for the Asylum Match between Dijak and Joe Gacy.

When Did Asuka & Kairi Sane Win The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles?

Asuka and Kairi Sane won the Tag Team Titles on the January 26th episode of SmackDown with a win over Katana Chance & Kayden Carter. The pair have defended the titles on three occasions since, with the most recent defence coming at Roadblock.

The win marked Sane’s first taste of championship gold since returning to WWE in November 2023.
