Frustration Backstage Following WWE Raw

CM Punk & Seth Rollins stare down on WWE Raw

One match on WWE Raw caused frustration backstage.

The October 7th episode of Raw opened with Sexxy Red welcoming everyone to the show before a battered and bruised CM Punk made his way to the stage.

Moving more than a little gingerly after his Hell In A Cell match with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, Punk addressed his future and seemed to hint he didn’t know what was next. The star said he’d love to tell fans he’d be back soon, but he just didn’t know the truth. However, he was soon interrupted by Seth Rollins and a brief staredown ensued.

Elsewhere on the show, Bron Breakker attacked Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso after the latter had defeated Xavier Woods. Later in the night, Sheamus got the better of Pete Dunne in a violent Donnybrook match, and Lyra Valkyria, Natalya, Zelina Vega, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance came out on top in a ten-woman tag team match.

In the main event, Gunther beat Sami Zayn to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, setting up a match with Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel in the process.

WWE Raw Endures “Growing Pains”

The episode was the first two-hour edition of Raw in over a decade and while fans were initially excited, the reason on social media was somewhat mixed.

As reported by Fightful Select, those backstage admitted there were “growing pains,” but noted that WWE has been running SmackDown as a two-hour show for 25 years. However, there was frustration with the booking of the women’s tag team match. More specifically, the lack of direction for talent and the fact a commercial break took up much of the bout.

The report added that CM Punk isn’t scheduled for Crown Jewel which explained his promo at the start of the show.

The October 14th episode of Raw was taped after the show, and spoilers can be found by clicking the link.
