Free Agents Expected To Sign With WWE
WWE is looking to add more signings.
In recent months WWE has secured the signings of Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer, and it seems the company won’t be stopping there.
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley — better known as the Motor City Machine Guns, have been free agents since April 1st, 2014 when their contracts with TNA expired. However, the pair have kept themselves busy on the independent scene.
On July 12th, Sabin and Shelley wrestled each other at a Prestige Wrestling event and appeared to say their goodbyes after the final bell. This sparked speculation the pair had signed with a new major company, likely WWE. Although it should be noted they have another independent booking in August.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said it’s believed Shelley and Sabin have signed with the sports entertainment giant.
Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley are expected to be coming here, or at least that’s the talk within wrestling. Nobody has officially said anything…
It’s been known for months that they had been talking with AEW and WWE ever since their TNA contracts expired. Of late, the indications were WWE made the better offer but they were expected to be with whichever side made the best offer.
Within wrestling the belief is that they are WWE-bound and Tommaso Ciampa made a reference to them in social media. They’ve also been completely silent about it and clearly have made their decision one way or the other.
Tony Khan Looking To Beat WWE To Motor City Machine Guns
Back in June, Tony Khan said he’s a big fan of the Motor City Machine Guns, admitting he’d love to have them back in AEW.
During the same interview, Khan confirmed The Briscoes were originally meant to wrestle in the spot held by the duo at Double or Nothing 2022. However, the AEW boss said he wasn’t “permitted” to use The Briscoes at that stage.
