Former WWE US Champion In Coaching Role At PC

WWE US Championship

A former WWE United States Champion made a comeback of sorts to the company as they appeared as a guest coach at the Performance Center.

Kalisto was previously part of WWE between 2013 and 2021, winning the US Title twice in addition to runs as an NXT Tag Team Champion and Cruiserweight Champion in the company. Although he won several titles, he is probably best remembered as part of the Lucha House Party trio alongside Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado.

Kalisto was released from his WWE deal in April 2021 and since then has only competed in nine matches. One of those came in AEW in November 2021 when – under the name Samuray del Sol – he teamed with Aero Star in an unsuccessful challenge for the AAA Tag Team Championship against FTR on Dynamite.

Fightful Select has reported that Kalisto was working at the WWE Performance Center as a guest coach and performed producing duties at one of the brand’s live events. The report adds that Kalisto handled the women’s bouts on the card which on the Friday night NXT live show included Katana Chance & Kayden Carter defeating Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend, Alba Fyre winning against Valentina Feroz, and Indi Hartwell beating Tatum Paxley.

There is no word if this is to become a permanent role for Kalisto or if this was just a one-off stint.
