Former WWE United States Champion Wants To Dethrone John Cena

John Cena’s final opponent is being decided via the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.

So far, Gunther, Solo Sikoa, Rusev, Sheamus, LA Knight, and Jey Uso have made it to the quarter finals. Two more matches are left for the first round before WWE begins the quarter-finals.

Among all the names that are rising through the ranks, it seems that one superstar is extremely keen on taking on John Cena in his final match and dethroning him as the Intercontinental Champion.

Sheamus wants to take down John Cena

During his appearance on Busted Open Radio, The Celtic Warrior claimed that he has the most history with The Last Real Champion among everyone in the bracket. Furthermore, he has been chasing the Intercontinental Championship for a while now, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

I think it would be a great full circle moment for me… It was a really, really fast rise for me to win the title, and then it really put me on the map, and I ran with it. I ran with John [Cena] for quite a while and learned a lot from him… So, it would be massive, and I feel like there’s nobody else there with skin in the game… Plus, on top of that, he won that one title that I’ve been chasing like a lunatic for the last 5 years, the Intercontinental Championship. So, there are two things now. So, the stars are aligning here big time, and I’m hungry for this.

It has been previously suggested that WWE is leaning towards Gunther as John Cena’s final opponent.
