Former WWE Tag Team Champions Expected To Return

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

Former WWE Tag Team Champions are closing in on a return to the company.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the Authors of Pain could be back on WWE television very soon. The pair have been linked with a return for a number of months, but it seems that plans are slowly coming together.

The report notes that there are plans for Akam and Rezar to appear on SmackDown, and their return could be “soon.” Furthermore, wrestling legend Paul Ellering is expected to join back up with the former Raw Tag Team Champions, something that’s an important factor for them.

It had previously been reported that the Authors of Pain re-signed with WWE in 2022, and had been working at the Performance Center.

When Were Authors Of Pain In WWE?

Akam and Rezar began performing together in NXT back in 2016 and quickly found success winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as well as becoming NXT Tag Team Champions, all under the guidance of Hall of Famer Paul Ellering.

The pair made their way to the main roster two years later, going on to become Raw Tag Team Champions. However, the Authors of Pain were released by WWE in 2020.

After leaving the company the duo attempted to launch their own wrestling promotion, however, the venture proved to be something of a disaster. The World Entertainment Series collapsed before it got off the ground with a scheduled show in the UK featuring several ex-WWE stars scrapped.
