Former WWE Tag Team Champion Confirms Role In AEW
Former WWE Tag Team Champion and NXT coach Scotty 2 Hotty has confirmed that he’s All Elite.
The man now known as Scott Garland is best known to wrestling fans as the Too Cool, Worm-delivering, Scotty 2 Hotty. The star graduated from being an enhancement talent in WWE to forming a popular tag team with Grandmaster Sexay (Brian Lawler) in 1999.
In April 2000, Scotty captured the WWE Light Heavyweight Championship for a short time before winning tag team gold with Lawler from Edge and Christian. Scotty 2 Hotty would later have another run as a WWE Tag Team Champion with his other on-screen associate, Rikishi.
Following the end of his own full-time in-ring career, Garland joined NXT as a coach in 2016, a role he held until November 2021 when he asked for his release from the company.
Scotty 2 Hotty has found life after WWE
Speaking on Wrestling With Johners, Scotty 2 Hotty confirmed that in recent months he’s resurrected his role as a coach but this time in Tony Khan’s AEW, and hopes to make the role more permanent at the start of 2024:
“I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I’ve been working for AEW as a producer behind the scenes, as a coach and producer there. I have an opportunity to do more with them, on a regular basis. It looks like at the beginning of the year, I’ll be going pretty hard with them if everything works out the way I hope it does.”
Garland began working with AEW in the summer of 2023 and has still made some select independent appearances during that time as well.
